CAQG CARE donation to Quilts of Valour

The Quilt Show, organized by the Central Alberta Quilters’ Guild, was the perfect opportunity for the CARE Group, within the guild, to meet with volunteers from Quilts of Valour - Canada. The Q of V organization supports injured Canadian Armed Forces members, past and present, with quilts of comfort.

The CARE group donated 5 beautiful quilts and one quilt top. They were made and finished by members of our group. The quilts will be donated to Veterans in need in central and southern Alberta.

CARE projects

Care Projects, as part of the Central Alberta Quilters Guild, delivers programs, projects and services that promote creativity, skill building, social engagement and community service through quilting.

Our programs provide guild members with opportunities for workshops and independent sewing to support agencies in Red Deer and the larger Central Alberta Community.

Kits for pillowcases and placemats are available for sign out at monthly guild meetings.   We also gratefully accept donated placemats and pillowcases from members anytime throughout the year.

Check out Upcoming Guild Events on the CAQG website for information on current community outreach projects and workshops.

UFO Challenge 2026

Make a list of 4 UFO’s that are currently on standby in your sewing room, and bring 4 Loonies to the Feb. meeting. The 4 loonies go into the UFO pot. At each monthly meeting for the next 4 months, bring in one of your totally completed UFOs for Show and Share (March, April, May, June). Once you share your UFO project, you get 1 Loonie back from the UFO pot, and your name gets entered into the Loonie pot draw. At the June meeting, there will be a draw from the “completed” UFO names to win the remainder of Loonies in the UFO pot.
