Learn the Basics of Quilting with a Fun Easy Baby Quilt
Joan Lailey and Barb Segal will lead you through every step in completing your project during 3 days of instruction. We can help anyone. One of us has even taught a blind 14-year-old boy to sew. You will be making a beautiful scrappy quilt about 36x35 inches. Variety is the zest for life and for this quilt. Every quilt made in the class will be unique.
Each day will consist of 4 hours instruction with a half hour for lunch. Instruction will begin at 10:30 AM so you should have your machine set up by that time. At 3PM you may choose to pack up and take your work home or stay for a little more help. We will stay as needed.
We absolutely love quilting and hope you will too.
Class goals: Have fun learning some new skills. Finish your project successfully.
What you will learn:
Setting up your machine for success: threading, tension, stitch length, accessories and maintenance
¼ inch vs scant ¼ inch seams
Introduction to colour theory and choosing your fabrics
Pressing
Cutting with rotary cutters and quilting rulers safely
Planning your quilts and finding the block in quilts that you like
Sandwiching your quilt, quilting and binding it.
Labelling a quilt and adding a sleeve
Resources for more quilting ideas, help and projects.
